Recipe: Turkey Chili

Updated: Mar 19, 2023

The weather has chilled and I was finally in the mood for some hearty chili. I tried something different and used Old Bay seasoning. Old Bay is something I've really only used with seafood but it says right on the box, that its great with other things like poultry, meat, salads, etc. It turned out to be a flavorful, mild chili that hit just the spot.

Recipe:

1 large onion

1 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1 red bell pepper

1 14oz can white beans

1 14oz can diced tomatoes

1 14oz can tomato sauce

32 oz box of chicken broth

1 4 oz can of tomato paste

3 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

1lb ground turkey

salt and pepper to taste

Chop the onion and saute in butter. Add diced pepper. Toss into a slow cooker. In the same pan, saute ground turkey with olive oil. Add in a tablespoon of Old Bay + salt and pepper. Once cooked, toss into slow cooker.

Add in all other ingredients: drained white beans, diced tomatoes tomato sauce, tomato paste, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and Old Bay seasoning. Cook on high for 4 hours.

I topped mine with greek yogurt, cheese, and a side of cornbread. Because no chili is complete without cornbread!
