I had the pleasure of coordinating a wonderful event two weeks ago. A Night for Smiles was created last year by two Charlotte dentists, Dr. Sonia Chopra and Dr. John Nale. It is a Charlotte based non-profit organization with the sole purpose of raising money to provide dental-oriented healthcare to the local community.
According to their website:
'This event will showcase North Carolina Mission of Mercy’s portable outreach program of the North Carolina Dental Society to provide free adult dental care to those in financial need with few or no other options. The next clinic will take place at the Bojangles Arena on October 18-19, 2019. The goals are to provide free dental treatment to 2,500 or more qualifying adults. The clinic is staffed by volunteer dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, laboratory technicians, health professionals and general community volunteers from Charlotte and across the state.'
It really was a wonderful event. Approximately $100,000 was raised and some really fun items were auctioned off...including a signed Michael Jordan UNC jersey, a bottle of 23 year aged Pappy Van Winkle, and a PUPPY! A big thanks to all the vendors involved:
