Offering a signature cocktail at your wedding is a great way to bring your personal flair into the reception. This is a great idea if you are opting out of a full service bar (beer, wine, and liquor). You could give your guests the option of beer, wine, and a signature cocktail. It's festive and the possibilities are endless.
If you decide to do a Bride's drink and a Groom's drink, try to make them different enough so they cover a wide range of palettes. And remember to give them each an adorable name. :) If you are set on doing one signature drink, perhaps choosing a popular liquor like vodka as the base would better serve your guests. You can even create a cocktail with champagne for a fun spritzer. Whatever you decide, remember that the bartenders are going to have a lot of work cut out for them on preparing these cocktails. Try to keep them simple, and something that can be made quickly or in large quantities.
Discuss all your options with the venue (or whoever is doing your bar service). You could choose just to offer the signature drink during cocktail hour, or provide it all evening long. Keep in mind that when guests enter for cocktail hour, the bar is going to be hit hard at the beginning. Consider serving the signature cocktails as a passed drink to keep the flow going and to avoid a long line at the bar.
I wanted to share with you a festive, simple drink that would be a great option for a wedding signature cocktail! Give it a try this Thanksgiving and see what you think. :)
Rosemary Spritzer:
Champagne or Prosecco
Blood Orange Bitters
Rosemary Sprig
Orange Peel
After filling your glass with champagne or Prosecco, add a few drops of blood orange bitters. Garnish with an orange peel and sprig of rosemary for a refreshing winter spritzer. Every time you take a sip you'll get the scent of rosemary and you'll instantly feel festive.
Enjoy, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!! xox
